In this historic year, as Island Park celebrates 100 years since its incorporation and our nation marks 250 years of independence, we gather as one community to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Q: When is the 2026 Memorial Day Parade in Island Park?
A: The parade will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Q: What time does the parade start and where is the line-up?
A: Line-up begins at 9:30 AM on Waterford Road (adjacent to Masone Beach). The parade steps off at 10:00 AM.

Q: What is the parade route?
A: The parade will proceed primarily along Long Beach Road, Radcliffe Road, and Ostend Road.

Q: Is there a ceremony after the parade?
A: Yes, a ceremony will be held immediately following the parade at the Memorial Monument.

Q: Who can participate in the parade?
A: All schools, local organizations, sports teams, scouts, and community groups are invited to march. Please email by May 18 to register.

Q: Who is this year’s Grand Marshal?
A: This year’s Grand Marshal is former Mayor James W. Ruzicka Sr.

Mayor Ruzicka led the Village of Island Park as Mayor from 2006 to 2014, following Superstorm Sandy, and previously served as Trustee from 1994 to 2006. He joined the Island Park Fire Department in 1975 and served as Chief of Department from 1989 to 1990.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served from 1965 to 1971 aboard the USS Lawrence from 1966 to 1968. He also served as Chairman of the Village’s 75th Anniversary Committee and is a 72-year resident of Island Park.

Q: Who will be in the parade?
A: The parade will feature local dignitaries, American Legion Post 1029, schools, local organizations, sports teams, scouts, marching bands, classic cars, antique fire apparatus, classic police cars, the Island Park Fire Department, and local police organizations.

Q: Where are the best places to watch the parade?
A: Spectators can enjoy great views anywhere along Long Beach Road. A reviewing stand and seating will be available in front of Sacred Heart Church, and all are welcome to attend the ceremony at the Memorial Monument.

Q: Is parking available for participants and spectators?
A: Yes. Parking will be available in the rear parking lot of Masone Beach, accessible via Beach Way. Participants and spectators are encouraged to arrive early, as spaces are limited.
